Building Regulation Consultant / Building Safety Act Advisor

Compliance and Inspection

• Conduct Building Regulation design compliance reviews, surveys, and site visits, providing detailed reports and professional advice at design stage.

• Review design submissions to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations, including for HRBs.

• Undertake drawing appraisal and technical reviews to support Building Regulation approval.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

• Provide technical advice and guidance on Building Regulations compliance to clients, contractors, developers, and stakeholders.

• Attend client and design team meetings, offering expert input on Building Regulations and associated compliance matters.

• Collaborate with Principal Designers, Principal Contractors, and other parties to ensure alignment with health and safety and regulatory requirements.

Professional Support and Risk Management

• Offer guidance on changes within the industry, particularly those stemming from the Building Safety Act, ensuring clients are informed and compliant.

• Support clients in understanding their obligations under the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, and associated legislation.

• Contribute to risk management by identifying and addressing foreseeable risks related to design and construction.

Project Delivery

• Ensure all projects are delivered in line with current Building Regulations, guidance, and legislation.

• Coordinate with design and construction teams to maintain compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

• Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, and related guidance and legislation.

• Proven experience in plan checking and inspecting buildings and properties, of varying scope.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, and
  stakeholders.

• Previous experience in regulatory or consultancy environment.

• Membership or eligibility for professional bodies such as RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT, or CIOB.

• Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.

• Experience in providing Building Regulations or Building Safety Act consultancy services to a range of sectors, including
  residential, commercial, and heritage.

• Familiarity with the roles and responsibilities of the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor under CDM 2015.

• Knowledge of fire risk management, including PAS 9980.

• Previous experience as a Building Control Inspector or having worked within a Local Authority Building Control team.

• Deliver the Principal Designer (Building Regulations) function on a variety of projects, including Higher-Risk Buildings
  (HRBs), in line with PAS 8671.
